Acid Attack Victim is the Face of Courage
India is no stranger to acid attacks; in fact, according to our sources, there are roughly 1000 acid attacks every year in the country.
One victim, Laxmi, was attacked with acid when she was only 15 years old. She is now 26 and has come a long way since her attack. She is now modelling for an Indian clothing label, Viva n Diva, for their campaign, titled “Face of Courage.”
“I began showing my face gradually. Then other survivors saw that if I could do it, why couldn’t they? People victimize acid attack survivors, but I think we need to come out of this mindset.”
