Happy Pride, Edmonton!
Today, June 3, 2016, marks the kick-off of Edmonton’s 36th annual Pride Festival!
Starting Small…
Edmonton’s very first Pride Festival occurred in 1980. There were only 75 participants and the two main events were a baseball game and campfire! Since that first year, the festival has grown into quite the spectacle, facilitating events such as:
- Poetry readings
- Rallies
- Fairs
- Art shows
- Sporting tournaments
- Picnics
- Film Festival
- Awards show
- The infamous PARADE!
