Jonathan Langille-suicideWhen police knocked on Jan Thorpe’s door, she thought it was about the woman who struck her with her car earlier in the day.

Instead, on Wednesday the officer delivered the news her 19-year-old son Jonathan Langille was dead.

Worse, Langille’s backpack containing a journal, with all his thoughts, was stolen by a woman who watched Langille die.

“That’s all we have of him, other than his books,” Thorpe said.

The backpack didn’t contain valuables. It had a Celtic knot, his journal and possibly a note, Thorpe believes.

Langille had jumped in front of the southbound train at the Coliseum LRT station.
