According to Stina…

… her followers went down 15,000 to just under 10,000; however, support shortly came after word spread of what she had been doing. Stina had decided to start using Instagram and her large audience to start the difficult conversations that everyone seemed to avoid, whether it be depression or bowel movements.

A mother who had followed the story wrote to Stina, stating that “You are exactly the kind of role model I want for my eight-year-old daughter to look up to.”

…No one is perfect. Just be yourself because that’s all you can be. We all have imperfections and we should just embrace them, not hide them… Beauty is skin deep, and what you usually see on Instagram isn’t all that it seems.”

Does this story sound familiar to you? Recently, a young female, Essena O’Neill “quit” social media, only after exposing her life behind the lens. Stina Sanders admits that she was inspired by Essena’s actions. You can read more about Essena’s story here.

Social media can be a blessing or a curse. What is important, is that you are confident in the material that you are posting – that you are being your honest self. If you are not true to the person that you are, it is easy to get lost in the filters and the likes. Always be sure to look out for yourself and do what is best for you.
